How to check if the year is a leap year?

To check if a year is a leap year, try to divide by 4.

For example, the year 2024 is a leap year, because 2024/4 = 506. The year 2024 is evenly divisible by 4.

However, the year 2023 is not a leap year, because 2023/4 = 505.75. The year 2023 is not evenly divisible by 4.

The only exception is during the beginning of every century where the calculation is based on dividing by 100 and 400.

The year must be able to divide evenly by 400 to be a leap year.

For example, the year 2000 is a leap year, because 2000/400 = 5. The year 2000 can be divide by 400 without a remainder.

The year 2100 is not a leap year, because 2100/400 = 5.25. The year 2100 will have a remainder when it is divided by 400.
